About the Role:

We’re on the lookout for skilled Remote Area Nurses to fill a variety of primary health care locum contracts, ranging from 4 to 12 weeks. These positions give you the chance to provide essential healthcare services while experiencing the unique beauty and culture of remote Australian communities.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive primary healthcare to individuals and families in remote areas.
• Promote health education and preventative care within the community.
• Administer immunizations and other necessary treatments.
• Be part of a dedicated on-call roster, providing emergency care when it’s needed most.
• Work both independently and as part of a close-knit healthcare team.


Locations Available: 

Our locum contracts offer a diverse range of locations across the Northern Territory, including Ti Tree, Willowra, and Yuendumu. Ti Tree is a small but vital service hub surrounded by stunning desert landscapes and home to local Aboriginal art galleries. Willowra provides a truly remote experience, offering a close-knit, culturally immersive community where traditional ways of life are celebrated. Yuendumu, one of the largest Aboriginal communities in Central Australia, is renowned for its vibrant arts scene and strong community spirit. Each location offers a unique opportunity to work in a culturally diverse setting while making a meaningful impact in remote healthcare.

What You’ll Need:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an RAN, or in Emergency/Primary Care in remote settings.
• REC (Remote Emergency Certification),
MEC (Maternity Emergency Certification), and Pharmacotherapeutics or RIPRN desirable.
• Immunisation provider certification and on-call experience.
• Manual Driver’s License & 4WD Certification.
• ISTAT competency with certification and access number.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) (updated annually).

Essential Training:

• Aseptic technique: theory and practical assessment
• Medication safety competencies – all modules
• Blood safe – collecting blood specimens
• Manual Handling
• Fire and Emergency Procedures
• Infection Control and Hand Hygiene
• Aggression Minimisation
• Clinical Deterioration Recognition and Management
• After-Hours Assessment and Communication for PHC Nurses and AHPs
• Early Sepsis Recognition and Management (via RAHC eLearning)
• Cultural security and safety specific to the Northern Territory
