FAQs
Some questions you may like answered
We are professional recruitment consultants, with an extensive network of both candidates and clinics, hospitals and other care facilities. We make it our mission to get to know who we work with, so we can find the best fit for our candidates as well as for our clients. Some of our candidates become clients and vice versa, with many having been with us since we opened in 2008.
By gathering industry insights and identifying trends, we can capture opportunities before they even come to the market. Many of our candidates actively choose to work with us exclusively, which further builds on the detailed understanding of their needs which we have gained. By having a talented pool of Sonographers who we have got to know, our clients can be confident that we aren’t just passing on a resume, we are referring a person who we know beyond simply words on a page or a quick phone call.
You will need to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). The NMBA in partnership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), is responsible for assessing all internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs) who want to practise in Australia.
There are two registration requirements you need to meet to be eligible to apply for registration with the NMBA:
- The registration standards – define the requirements that applicants must meet to be considered fit to practise as nurses and midwives.
- The qualification assessment criteria – define the minimum acceptable education and training that IQNMs must have completed.
Before you apply for registration, you will need to provide your qualification and other details through Self-Check. If your qualification is available to select from the list and you complete the ‘Self-Check’ you will be assigned a stream as assessed by AHPRA. Each stream will have different steps you must complete before registration application eligibility. Please note that the Self-Check only identifies the required assessment stages for IQNMs seeking registration. It does not assess whether an individual can meet the eligibility requirements for registration.
Registration standards define the requirements that you will need to meet to be registered.
- Registration standard: Criminal history
- Registration standard: English language skills
- Registration standard: Continuing professional development
- Registration standard: Professional indemnity insurance arrangements
- Registration standard: Recency of practice
For more information see the NMBA’s registration standards.
New Zealand Nurses who hold current registration, may apply for registration via Trans-Tasman mutual recognition.
If you are seeking to migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program you will be required to have your skills assessed by Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council’s Skilled Migration Services. They are the independent assessing authority authorised by law to conduct these assessments by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
